User Interface Design
Where the rubber hits the road.
The interface is the “tangible” that
your customers experience. Before diving into the
fray, Molstad Consulting interfaces are informed by
a strategic framework, in-depth knowledge of users
and their agendas, a sensible, well-structured information
architecture and an understanding of technical capabilities
and constraints.
With all that in place, we create prototypes that
can be as simple as paper sketches, to detailed, gray
wireframes to fully-interactive, HTML representations.
Whatever the level of complexity, these prototypes
occur prior to graphic design and keep the team focused
on value and results. Add usability testing to the
mix, and certainty of hitting the target upon launch
rises dramatically. Guesswork is practically eliminated
and production costs drop.
We evaluate the quality of an interface by following
criteria:
- Customer Experience
Are the most important tasks, based on their
agenda well supported? Are the calls to action and
the choices clear? Does the interface keep the customer
informed of what it’s doing and what’s
over the horizon?
- Look & Feel
Is the interface inviting and balanced? Does
it properly extend the company brand and match up
with what visitors know from other media?
- Message
Is the overall message crafted to suit the context
at hand or is it merely pasted from another source?
- Resilience
Is it quickly learnable? Does it stand up to
user testing and meet their expectations?
